Salt and wine were the most important commodities once transported by muleteers and Cramars along these historic trade routes from north to south and south to north respectively. The selected wine-barrel tables will therefore be set up as symbolic waypoints along the project trail on most of the stages. The name ‘Alpina Antica Trail’ is affixed to the body of each barrel. A stamp pad box is mounted on the side, inviting you to symbolically mark your completion of the stage. Each barrel reminds us of the tradition and value of the goods that were traded. A brief information sheet is designed to draw attention to the joint INTERREG project HOT 46-006 and provide details for those interested. A reward for your hiking achievements: Collect stamps at the 25 refreshment stations and the additional stamp points along the route. Once you’ve completed 20 stages, you’ll receive some Alpina Antica herbal salt; once you’ve completed 35 stages, you’ll receive the Alpina Antica Trail flag as a special award.
